Watch new episodes of Selina S2 on Showmax
Excuse me as I shriek with joy. This week has been good to us. First HBO, teased an epic Game of Thrones moment between Arya Stark and Drogon that would make even Nymeria jealous. Secondly, Wakanda’s magic was felt at the Oscars when Black Panther bagged three awards for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Score, the first Marvel movie to win an Oscar!
Here’s more good news to make your week even better: for those of you who have been asking for new episodes of Selina S2, Showmax listened. That’s right, new episodes of Selina S2 will be released on Showmax – next week, in fact, on Thursday, 7 March.
In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t joined the #Selison (yes, it’s a thing) fandom yet, Selina is a Swahili telenovela that follows the star-crossed romance between Selina (Celestine Gachuhi) and Nelson (Pascal Tokodi), two lovebirds from different worlds who are brought together by an unfortunate incidence – Selina is sold off to work as a maid for the rich Mackenzies, only to fall in love with her employer’s son.
Directed by Reuben Odanga, who won a Kalasha Award in 2018 for Best Director, Selina has become a fan favourite among the Kenyan audience, not only for its never-ending drama but also for the intense love triangle between Nelson, Selina and Biko (Peter Kamau), which has fans reeling with emotions and picking sides on social media. Remember when Mexican telenovelas enjoyed this kind of attention? Well, good riddance because Selina is here to stay and the fandom is alive and kicking.
To kick off your binge, here are some of our favourite posts from Selina fans:
1. This one who is demanding way too much from Kenyan husbands
2. This fan who we might need to check up on
3. This one who can’t help but get mad at the scriptwriter
4. This one who’s just hurting our feelings because she’s clearly never heard of Showmax
5. And finally, this fan who clearly has all the wrong priorities
But Selina is not the only local TV show that’s we are looking forward to catching up with Showmax in March. Also be on the lookout for new seasons of Sue na Jonnie (S12-13), which will available on Showmax from Thursday 14 March. We’re looking forward to seeing how the drama unfolds from where we left off with that dramatic wedding where Sue (Kate Kamau) learnt that her best friend and her boyfriend had been sneaking around behind her back.
Remember to catch new episodes of Selina from Thursday, 7 March and Sue na Jonnie S12-13 from Thursday, 14 March on Showmax.
