Gomora: Thati is a stone-cold killer
It’s been a tumultuous week for mother and daughter. There is tension at the workshop as Mohato holds Mam’Sonto and Thati at gunpoint after a fight about the money they got for a hijacking job they did for Pedro.
Mohato flips the script
Everything is going well and Mam’Sonto and Thati think that everyone is on the same page. Little do they know that Mohato has his own plans.
In an unexpected turn of events, Mohato sings a different tune. The three were supposed to split the money three ways, but because of his anger and envy, Mohato decides that all of the money belongs to him.
“Your mother lost her mind when she forgot everything I ever did for her. I spent a very long time in prison. I was locked up for years, for you. Thinking that when I came back, we would carry on from where we left off,” says Mohale.
After pointing the gun at them, he decides to tie mother and daughter up and leaves with the bag full of money. However, he returns to the workshop as he can’t find the keys to his getaway car – wrong move.
Pull the trigger
Thathi (who has now untied herself) strikes Mohato with an iron rod when he returns to the workshop and orders him to drop the money as she points the gun at him.
“I worked hard for this money. I am not going to let you leave with it,” says Thati.
Mohato doesn’t believe that Sandton’s former slay queen will pull the trigger. And, boy, is he mistaken.
“You couldn’t handle a woman with a pepper-spray. And you accidentally shot Sdumo, you don’t scare me!” says an overly confident Mohato.
Although Thati is hesitant, she pulls the trigger and puts three bullets into Mohato.
Killing someone is still a traumatic experience for Thati. She is shaking like a leaf as Mohato’s lifeless body lies on the ground.
The killing of Mohato is a full-circle moment. Ntokozo shot and killed Thati’s husband and now Mohato (who is also Ntokozo’s favourite uncle) is dead.
