Unmarried S3: Nengi learns the truth about Bode and it stings!

Spoilers below!

Unmarried continues to find new ways to surprise us and at this juncture, ladies and gentlemen, we are convinced that the village people of Kamsi, Funbi, and Nengi are working overtime because what did we just watch on the latest episode?

Let’s begin our recap with Funbi – we just do not get it, does she enjoy being hurt?

At first, we thought manipulative Ali was the biggest problem in her life and now her mother has resurfaced. Wahala for who no dey watch Unmarried!

Mother dearest

Iya Funbi claims she is suffering from cancer. She even took to social media to appeal for public assistance for her cancer treatment. However, Funbi is not buying it and neither is Joe. Even when Kamsi and Nengi try to convince her to reach out to her mother, she vehemently refuses and for good reason too. The last time Iya Funbi came into her life, she attempted suicide.

We are not sure which is more shocking – the new level of narcissism Ali has unlocked or Iya Funbi’s return.  There’s also Ali’s love bombing, physical, verbal and emotional abuse which are increasingly getting worse by the episode. He is strategically isolating her from people. First, it was the therapist and now Joe. At this rate, it will not be long before Kamsi and Nengi are cut off. The last straw for us was when he personally delivered her mother to her house…

Nengi can’t catch a break

Meanwhile, the man drama continues with Nengi. After Bode’s disappointment, her sister, Tari finds her curled up on the floor, drunk and in tears. Tari decides not to tell Nengi what she discovered about Bode, as she (Nengi) is visibly upset. Tari then confides in Mayowa that she has not been able to tell her sister the truth about Bode because she does not want to cause her any more pain.

It is the audacity of Bode the Yoruba demon for us. The audacity that pushed him to turn up at Nengi’s house, convince her that he had a “family emergency” and still end up in her bed…

Oh, the look on Tari’s face when she walks into her sister’s room the next morning and finds her all cozy and cuddled up with Bode! We aspire to that level of self-control because the restraint she exercised at that moment is definitely worthy of emulation!

After he leaves, Tari reveals to Nengi that Bode is married with children but Nengi is in denial and cannot believe it.

When Bode returns to her house after work, she confronts him about his wife and children and he springs to defense saying, “They are moving to Canada!” Phew! Nengi promptly asks him to leave and hopefully, that’s the end of that.

Kamsi needs to drop this deadbeat

Speaking of disappointing behaviour, Lota definitely takes the lead on Unmarried. You will recall that in episode two he stole money from their joint account. We thought he had become remorseful as he went looking for jobs to enable him payback. His efforts finally paid off as he got a job to cater for a wedding ceremony. Kamsi was happy, we were happy, everybody was happy…until the bride and groom showed up banging on their door with police officers to arrest Lota. Apparently, he had slept through the whole day of the wedding and did not even remember the date of the event!

How will Funbi deal with her mother’s return? Will Kamsi continue to put up with Lota’s deadbeat ways, and will Nengi move on from Bode? Things are definitely heating on the show and we can’t wait to see how the drama unfolds.
