7 juicy secrets we’ve learned on The Real Housewives of Lagos

If there’s one thing we can expect from every episode of The Real Housewives of Lagos, it is that tea will be spilled.

From learning that Carolyna and Toyin used to be BFFs, to Carolyna revealing one of the reasons her marriage collapsed, The Real Housewives of Lagos has delivered on the tea.

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs, we dey for you. Here are 7 juicy secrets we’ve learned on The Real Housewives of Lagos.

1. Carolyna and Toyin used to be BFFs

Is there anything more interesting than figuring out which celebrities are friends and who can’t stand to be in the same room?

Prior to RHOLagos, we’d never seen Carolyna and Toyin in the same sentence. To the best of our knowledge, Carolyna was a rising actress who found love with a billionaire and retired to a life of luxury. Following her divorce, she launched her property business and kept a low profile. Toyin, on the other hand, is a boss babe running multiple businesses including a leading fashion and styling service.

This is why it was surprising to learn that not only were the pair close, but according to Toyin, Carolyna was the first person who ever made Banga soup in her house. Wawu!

However, as we would later find out, the friendship ended on a very bitter note with both ladies dragging each other to filth on Twitter following the events of the gbas gbos-filled episode 8.

2. Carolyna reveals that Linda Ikeji was one of the reasons her marriage broke up

Prior to The Real Housewives of Lagos, Carolyna had been pretty much silent on her marriage breakup and the events that led to it.

However, in episode 3, during her confrontation with Laura, Carolyna blurted that Laura’s blogger sister, Linda Ikeji, was one of the reasons her marriage ended.

“You can have a blog but don’t hurt people. Part of the reasons why my marriage broke was because of Linda. I reached out to her, she did not care. Linda wrote that my daughter was for another man, and you sit down here to defend your family, I have family too.”

Ouch!

3. Laura shares that her husband had an affair with her best friend

In episode 4 of RHOLagos, Laura shocked the ladies and fans alike when she revealed that her husband had had an affair with her best friend.

The revelation came while the ladies played a game of two truths and a lie. She then clarified that it happened before she and her husband had started dating.

Phew.

4. Laura discloses why she got fillers

Last year, Laura debuted a new look – a much pointier nose and jaw – leading to speculations of plastic surgery. She would later come out to debunk rumours of a surgery, stating that she had merely gotten fillers.

While on the show, during a game of Truth or Dare, Mariam asked Laura why she chose to get fillers and Laura responded that she always wanted a bridge. She also revealed that she would do more.

Case closed.

5. Toyin reveals she was a victim of domestic violence

If there was any revelation that had us completely shook on the show, it was Toyin admitting that she had suffered abuse at the hands of her ex.

Though Toyin didn’t say which of her baby daddies abused her, she stated that RHOLagos co-star Mariam saw her through some of the darkest points of that relationship.

“Some of us have gone through some of these things and we just don’t care anymore. We just want to walk away and be happy. Mariam has seen me go through these things – physical abuse. The point is at times, we know this is wrong, we want to get away but we’re scared.”

She further revealed that her ex had hit her after she bought the pink Range Rover he refused to buy for her.

“I bought it by myself. I put my name on it. I put ATM on it. He had to beat me up like where did you get the money? A man must have given you the money.”

Heavy stuff.

6. Carolyna accuses Laura of being pimped to a Nigerian governor

Just when we thought the ladies couldn’t leave us any more shook with their gbas gbos, along comes Carolyna with a heavy accusation that had the ladies throwing hands at each other.

According to her, Laura had been brought before a certain Nigerian governor to be pimped. Laura, of course, vehemently denied the accusation, stating that she had merely approached the governor with the intention of selling her book to him.

Gbese!

We certainly can’t wait to see how the never-ending conflict between Carolyna and Laura plays out.

7. Iyabo reveals that she thinks Laura is just using Toyin

Aunty Iyabo threw us a curveball when she revealed that she didn’t consider Laura a true friend of Toyin, after the pair got into a fight over Laura’s rudeness to Toyin.

“I’ve always told Toyin that this Laura is not your friend. She does not really like you like that. Laura is just using Toyin because she knows that among all of us she only needed Toyin as a support system so that when she wants to start her wahala she has Toyin for backup.”
