I’m Fine (Thanks for Asking) (2021)
When the Covid-crunch lands a recently widowed mother on the street, she convinces her eight-year-old daughter that they are only camping for fun, while she works to get a roof over their heads.
The micro-budget indie movie – funded largely on Coronavirus stimulus cheques – earned festival-favourite student filmmakers Kelley Kali (who also stars) and Angelique Molina the Special Jury Award at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival.
I’m Fine (Thanks for Asking) has a 95% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with RogerEbert.com calling it “a wondrous ride, rolling with charisma and heart,” and Variety saying, “The directors, their crew and ensemble do sweet work capturing the weight of a moment that has most everyone stretched thin.”
