Five Fingers for Marseilles wins best film
The annual African Movie Academy Awards celebrate the best films from across the continent and the big winner at the 2018 awards was South Africa’s very first western, Five Fingers for Marseilles. Directed by Michael Matthews, the hit film won five awards, including Best Film, Achievement in Production Design, Achievement in Cinematography, Best Film in an African Language and Best First Feature Film by a Director.
What’s it about?
It’s a brilliant South African gun-slinging western about a member of the infamous “Five Fingers” who returns to the rural town of Marseilles after 20 years. Seeking peace and quiet, the ex-freedom fighter and outlaw discovers that the town he once fought to liberate is facing a new threat, and he will have to fight again.
