When a woman who wrote to her seeking advice is found dead, reluctant recipe advice columnist Tannie Maria Purvis (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and her colleague, rookie journalist Jessie (Kylie Fisher), become determined to solve this small-town murder and catch the killer – even roping in their Karoo Gazette editor, Hattie Wilson (Jennifer Steyn), and (very much against his will), big city detective Khaya Meyer (Tony Kgoroge).

10. Toorbos
Knysna’s forest has been a constant source of inspiration for renowned Toorbos author Dalene Matthee. The film adaptation of her novel blends the poverty and struggle drama of The Grapes of Wrath, with the hope and whimsy of My Fair Lady.
Young Karoliena Kapp (Elani Dekker) leaves her forest home behind for a more sophisticated town life on the arm of a dapper suitor (Stiaan Smith), but finds her desire for freedom and self-expression clashing with the engrained snobbery of high society etiquette among the Bosmens community in the 1930s.
