Uthando Lodumo S2: Why Babes hid Sponge from the world
Can you believe that we’ve reached the season finale of Uthando Lodumo? Time really does fly when you’re having fun! The series ended by showing fans what went down at Babes and Mampintsha’s son Sponge’s first birthday celebration. The party was attended by friends and family, and everybody seemed to have a great time.
Both Babes and Mampintsha shared their excitement about this milestone. Babes said: “I am elated because Sponge barely interacts with people. He’s always hidden as you all know. Today is a big day.”
Mampintsha added: “I’m very excited because I am a first-time father. That’s why I always tell him that ‘I am your father’.”
A protective mother
For a while, the musicians hid their child from the world and have only recently decided to share him with the public. It turns out that they were intentional about their decision of protecting him. Babes explained: “A lot of people don’t know this but as a new mom I really don’t want my baby to be seen or touched. Some people perform strange rituals, and I don’t want my baby exposed to such.”
The mother of one also revealed that she doesn’t even want Sponge to be photographed. “Other children actually die because you find that one of your husband’s girlfriends has used their picture to cast evil spells. This is the first time my baby gets to interact with other people because he’s always at home with a limited number of people.”
Nothing but love for Sponge
What has fatherhood taught Mampintsha in the past year?
“I never knew that I could be a mother, father, uncle, and brother all at once. I’ve learned that I could be all those things because I love my kid,” the musician said. At the end of the celebrations, Babes thanked her family and friends for their support and left a touching message for her son. “I want to tell you that I love you all with all my heart and that no one will ever love you as I do.”
