The Mommy Club OGs tell the Sugar & Spice cast what to expect
In 2023, Showmax released the first season of The Mommy Club, a reality show featuring Jozi’s most affluent “it” moms who seemingly had it all, and the people who helped them build their empires and raise their heirs. The cast included Hermajesty, Mrs Mops, Nunurai, and Ratile, who were joined by Mrs Sande and Nozipho Ntshangase in Season 2.
Fast forward to 2024, Showmax announced the second edition of the record-breaking show, The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice, which is set to premiere on Showmax on 8 August. The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice will follow affluent mothers within Durban’s Indian community as well as their extended families, which include grandparents, godmothers, and siblings.

The cast includes Abigail Nepaul (41), Asharia Parsad (27), Christina Devraj (26), Devina Knowles (43), Kim Jones (33), Lenore (45), Neetasha (36), and twins Losh and Resh Naidoo (45), who are all newcomers to the world of reality TV.
To welcome the ladies into the world of reality television, we asked The Mommy Club OGs to give them advice on how to handle their first season, and this is what they had to say.
Hermajesty:
“For me, it is pretty straightforward. I believe that the ladies need to fully be themselves, I am fully myself, and that is how people connect with me. By being yourself and showing up authentically, you attract like-minded people, and the world will just have to adjust to who you are.
“By being authentic, your story will touch people. When you open up about your flaws and challenges, you are helping other women who are going through similar situations. So, do not be embarrassed to open up as much as you are comfortable. Chasing perfection is not the answer,” explained Hermajesty.
She added, “Do not try to be something you are not because it will backfire. If people react to you, good or bad, they should do so because of who you truly are and not because of a character you are playing.”
Mrs Mops:
“My advice to the new mommies is for them to know why they are on the show. Authenticity is key, so be yourself at all times and enjoy the process. Being in The Mommy Club is a privilege and it comes with a lot of perks. You can promote your business like I do with my skincare line, Nala Reign. You also get to meet other moms who are just as fabulous and ambitious as you, and you can show the world your life as a mom and boss babe. So sit back and enjoy the ride. There will be tough times, but always remember your why; that will make it all worth it.”
Nunurai:
“My advice to the new ladies is to keep it cute and fun, and when you have to, read a b****. Do not let anyone walk all over you. Every single time something happens, address it in real time and do not wait for the reunion because you might be taken out of context.”
Ratile:
“First of all, they should have fun with the show, they should be authentic, and they should definitely bring the glam.”
