Data privacy notice for Showmax surveys
Showmax will be processing your personal data in relation to your participation in this survey.
1. Showmax Service
Showmax provides an on-demand streaming service ('Showmax Service') through which users can stream or temporarily download television shows, movies, video or audio clips and other audio-visual materials ('Content') by using an electronic device which is capable of connecting to the Internet, including but not limited to computers, mobile phones, tablets, media players, smart TVs, decoders, set-top boxes, gaming consoles, media adaptors, and other similar devices, which devices comply with the technical requirements to access the Content as set out on the Showmax Website ('Access Device'). You can access and receive the Showmax Service through the showmax.com website and any other websites that Showmax may make available for receiving the Showmax Service ('Showmax Website'). In order for users to access and receive the Showmax Service using certain Access Devices, Showmax has developed or made available the Showmax software application ('Showmax App'). Access Device, Showmax Device and Showmax app constitute a Showmax Platform.
2. For the purpose of this survey, the Controller of your personal data depending on your location, shall either be:
- Showmax SA (Proprietary) Limited (in South Africa); or,
- M-SAT Nigeria Limited in Nigeria; or,
- Showmax Africa Holdings Limited in the rest of the regions in Africa;
(hereinafter individually or collectively referred to as “Showmax”)
3. Showmax may appoint service providers to provide hosting, infrastructure and software services for the surveys. It may also need to transfer your personal data to its affiliates within the MultiChoice Group for collaborative marketing insights and to create a better user experience of your selected Showmax products.
4. Showmax will be processing the following categories of personal data in relation to your participation in this survey: your name, email address, your responses to the survey prepared by Showmax including your behavioural information such as preferences, opinions, dislikes or likes, image of your face, voice recording, and phone number.
5. Showmax may also record the survey insights in order to:
- improve and optimise the Showmax Platform and Showmax Service and observe your participation in the survey;
- merge or link survey insights into themes for the marketing of Showmax;
- store certain information collected from a Showmax Platform with the help of cookies, web beacons, advertiser identifiers and other technologies, including advertising data.

6. You can contact the Data Protection Officer at help@showmax.com and your personal data will be processed by Showmax for the survey.
7. Consent with processing personal data
By actively participating on the survey, you consent to the processing of your personal data by Showmax in accordance with this Notice and Showmax’s Privacy Policy at https://www.showmax.com/privacy.
You may withdraw your participation at any time, by sending your withdrawal to escalations@showmax.com.
Withdrawal of your participation means that you can no longer take part in the survey going forward.
