DiepCity’s Nozuko Ncayiyane stars in Showmax film M’tase Khaya
Now streaming on Showmax, M’tase Khaya follows Lindiwe, who comes to Johannesburg to help Bongiwe, her bougie, estranged older sister, who is in jail after being framed. Lindiwe works tirelessly to secure justice for her sister, but will this be enough to mend the broken trust between them?
Nozuko Ncayiyane (Nox in DiepCity) stars as Lindiwe, with Amanda Seome (Side Dish) as Bongiwe and Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Award winner Sana Mchunu (Youngins, Gomora, The River) as their mum.

“M’tase Khaya portrays the power of sisterhood,” says director Athi Petela (Lockdown, Queendom). “Blood is always thicker than water, and in unity, so much more can be achieved. I’m a huge fan of sisterhood, both biological and through friendship.”
“I hope the film helps viewers appreciate the importance of family bonds and the complexities of sisterhood,” says Ncayiyane. “The film highlights that everyone has their own path and that redemption is always possible.”
Ncayiyane says she found pieces of herself in her character, particularly Lindiwe’s loyalty to family and her rebellious nature. “While her choices differ from mine, her motivations and complexities resonate deeply with my experiences,” she shared.
Ncayiyane expressed her gratitude for working with Mchunu. “She brought so much warmth and depth to the role, creating a strong emotional anchor for both Lindiwe and Bongiwe.”
Also look out for Luzuko Nkqeto (Lingashoni, Grootboom & Sons, The Estate) as Detective Xulu and the likes of Thobani Mbhele (Ekhaya Backpackers), comedian Mongezi “Tol A$$ Mo” Mahlangu, Dippy Padi (Adulting, How To Ruin Christmas), and Kelo Mile (The Queen). “The cast is made up of people who are naturally playful and a lot of fun,” says Petela.
