I Love My Dad (2022)
Inspired by a real experience in the life of writer, director, and star James Morosini (Dalton in The Sex Lives of College Girls), I Love My Dad “takes cringe comedy to the next level,” says Screen Daily, while Daily Beast says it, “will have you cackling, cringing and screaming.”
The film follows Chuck, a hopelessly estranged father who desperately wants to reconnect with his troubled son, Franklin. Blocked on social media and concerned for his son’s life, Chuck creates a fake online identity as waitress Becca, but things start to spiral when his inadvertent catfishing leads to Franklin falling for this imaginary girl.
Chuck is played by Emmy and Critics Choice Award winner Patton Oswalt, from A.P. Bio, Young Adult, and The King of Queens (and the voices of Remy in Ratatouille, Nom Nom in We Bare Bears, Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., Max in The Secret Life of Pets, Matthew the Raven in The Sandman, and Happy in Happy!), while the support cast includes MTV Movie Award winner and Black Reel Award nominee Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Free Guy, Tag), and YouTuber and Teen Vogue channel host Claudia Sulewski in her feature film debut as the fictional Becca.
I Love My Dad won both the Grand Jury Award and the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the SXSW Film Festival last year.
