Showmax Nigeria customer survey: privacy statement

Thank you for taking your time to participate in the short telephonic survey by Showmax. The survey will be conducted by or on behalf of Showmax, a division of MultiChoice Africa Holdings B.V (“MAH”), the company which provides the Showmax Subscription Video on-Demand Service (Showmax Service). For this survey, MAH is a controller of your personal data and we shall use “Showmax” to refer to MAH. “We”, “us” and “our” is used to refer to Showmax.

This Privacy Statement contains the exclusive terms and conditions between you and Showmax and it will govern your participation in the survey. By indicating your acceptance in the "I Agree" field, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older and agree to abide by and to be bound by this Statement.

Your participation on the survey is voluntary and it will not affect your ability to decide whether or not you wish to access the Showmax Service at any point in time.

The processing of your personal data will be conducted n accordance with this Statement, Showmax Privacy Policy and the Showmax Terms and Conditions – Global.

“You”, “your” refers to the user of the Showmax Service who has agreed to participate in this short telephonic survey.

You have elected to participate in this survey because you have used or subscribed to the Showmax Services in the past and you have consented to receive the telephonic survey from Showmax.

    How we will collect your personal data?

    We will collect your personal data directly from you from the questionnaire that you complete before we contact you telephonically and from the recorded telephonic survey on which you will participate. You may provide us with additional personal data during the telephonic survey which is not listed in this Statement and if you do so, we will process such personal data in accordance with this Statement.

    Why we need your personal data

    We will use your personal data for the following purposes:

      Who will contact you?

      You will be contacted by service agents from and/or acting on behalf of Showmax on the contact details provided by yourself on the questionnaire. These service agents will only collect your personal data for the purpose specified in these Terms.

      Cross-border transfer: Showmax provides services across the globe and as such, your personal data may be processed in a different national jurisdiction than it was collected. We are primarily regulated by the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and the relevant national data protection laws where our company operates. We will transfer your personal data to countries that provide an adequate level of protection for personal data as required by the European Commission. If we need to transfer to transfer your personal data for the purposes specified in this Statement, we will ensure that your personal data is afforded the appropriate level of protection in accordance with specific contracts approved by the European Commission.

      How long we will store or use your personal data?

      We will only retain your personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purposes that we have listed in this Statement. We will retain the Survey Data for the duration of the survey campaign which will be two months from the date that you complete the questionnaire. If eligible, we will retain your Identity and Contact Data to activate your subscription to the Showmax Pro for the duration of your contract with us.

      Data security

      At all times during our engagement with you, we will ensure that your personal data is secure and that its integrity is maintained to prevent any unauthorised access or disclosure, and accidental loss or damage.

      By proceeding with the survey, you consent to processing of your personal data by Showmax in accordance with this Statement, Showmax’s Privacy Policy at https://faq.showmax.com/eng/legal/za/privacy-policy-za.

      You may withdraw your consent at any time by sending your request to cv2ndlinesupportescalations@multichoice.com. Withdrawal of your consent with processing means that you can no longer take part in the telephonic survey.

      Terms and conditions of the Showmax Pro voucher

      You are not eligible to participate in this survey if:

        The voucher is a reward, and it is subject to the Showmax Terms and Conditions – Global.

        It is not transferrable and may not be deferred, changed or exchanged for cash or any other item.

        The voucher will be manually added to the credit of your account when our service agents conduct the telephonic survey

        Your access to Showmax Pro is limited to only one month after the survey. Should you wish to subscribe to Showmax at any time after this, please visit https://www.showmax.com/join/eng/welcome-showmax to subscribe for an additional period and you will thereafter be billed in accordance with the Showmax terms and conditions global on the payment details you provide.
