“It’s madness to think that my dad just said , ‘Rick, why don’t you go to the boxing club. Give it a go, see how it is,’ Hatton says in the documentary. “So I got in the ring and had a bit of a spar with this kid. I can’t remember who it was, but he was a lot more experienced than me. And he went ding and he hit me and I thought, ‘ooh, you d***head’. It wound me up. I thought, ‘oh wow’. And I come, it took two, three, four times to come and then I started getting the better of him. And when I got the better of him, it’s like I felt 10 feet tall.

“I thought, oh my God. Only about three weeks ago he was knocking lumps out of me, and look at him now. I was hooked then. I was hooked on the sport.”
