The Real Housewives of Durban Season 2 episode 4: Cheating and polygamy are hot topics at MaKhumalo’s black-tie dinner
What was meant to be a night of mingling and making friends quickly turned sour in The Real Housewives of Durban Season 2 episode 4. What went wrong, you might ask. Well, what didn’t go wrong? Except for the beautiful gowns and perfectly laid wigs, the conversation didn’t flow at all. In fact, by the end of the black-tie event, some of MaKhumalo’s guests left quite puzzled and annoyed.
As you might already know, MaKhumalo is the third wife of Musa Mseleku, a proud polygamist. She now resides in Durban for work reasons and would like to make some buddies. However, we’re not too sure if she made the first impression that she was hoping for when meeting with her fellow housewives.
The polygamy agenda
Things went south after the topic of polygamy was brought up. From the beginning, MaKhumalo turned up the heat when she told Annie that being married to a black man means she knew what she was getting herself into. “You need to expect anything,” she said, implying that polygamy might knock on Annie’s door one day.
Annie obviously didn’t appreciate that comment and said she was confident that she was enough for her man. Basically, Annie knows exactly who and what she’s dealing with. Although Annie seems to know where she stands, Musa, on the other hand, wanted the ladies to ask their men if they were not tempted to follow in his footsteps. Uhm, cheeky much?
Londie responded to Musa’s comment by saying: “Some of us are not in a polygamous marriage, so our blood pressures are raised and we are sweating because he is trying to encourage our men to be polygamists.”
Do all men cheat?
As if the whole polygamy subject was not awkward enough, they then decided to move to an even juicier and more controversial topic: cheating. Out of nowhere, Nonku stated: “All men cheat.” She explained that she left her ex-partner because he was abusive, not because he was cheating on her. “But if I found out that he was cheating, I would not have left him… Where would I go? He’ll cheat at some point.”
According to Nonku, men cheat in degrees. “White men buy [women]. All black men cheat, all white men buy,” she said. Now, if you’re a happily married woman you probably won’t agree with these statements. Jojo, who understandably felt offended, shared: “Clearly Nonku has had a bad experience, because only if you’ve had a bad experience would you be so bitter about something like that. Maybe that’s why you’re single.”
Jojo believes that as a single person, you shouldn’t be telling a happily married person things like that. “Because you’re the one who’s not doing it right, honey,” she added. It wouldn’t be a dinner party without a little drama and controversy, right?
