"I'm hoping for goals galore in the derby," says Robert Marawa
Ahead of the biggest football derby in the country, Showmax Premier League ambassador Robert Marawa gives his views on the mammoth clash between Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. The game will be streaming on Showmax Premier League on Saturday, 1 February 2025 at 15:30, live from the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

"I’m somewhat excited about the Soweto derby, mainly on two fronts, that of the unknown entities. When I talk about the unknown entity, I talk about the three players that were signed by Kaizer Chiefs, in Tashreeq Morris, Thabo Cele and Makabi Lilepo. They all bring something very exciting to this Chiefs team. Should the coach decide to use them, like Thabo, for example, from the beginning, he would be an entity that the opposition wouldn’t have been able to study. The three new players have been hard at training at Naturena throughout the week, and if they are given the opportunity to bring that unknown factor, that could be the edge for Chiefs.
"But you can take nothing away from Pirates, who have been very consistent. Pirates have also become younger on the field, and Rele Mofokeng leads the charge in terms of dominance. Let’s not forget Patrick Maswanganyi, who has been sensational and is always turning it on. Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chain has also been rock solid, and his distribution has been out of this world, both with his feet and his hands when it comes to set pieces. He is a solid goalkeeper.
":Again, for me, the only thing I can wish for is that we can get the thrilling, exciting, goals-galore game that this max capacity crowd will want. I will be happy with a 2-2 draw as long as there are goals. I can really see lots of goals in this specific derby. If there are four goals scored in this game, we are all winners."
