Showmax Premier League weekly watchlist: 19 May-28 May

Here we are, at the cusp of the final game of the season in the Premier League, and what a season it has been. Not a football pundit or fan on this planet would have truly predicted the script that unfolded throughout this campaign.

With a new manager at the helm, Liverpool were largely written off as genuine title contenders this season. Yet, against expectations, the Reds managed to secure their 20th English league title with an impressive four games to spare. Arne Slot’s men were a formidable force, losing just three games all season and enjoy a remarkable 12 points gap over the second-placed Arsenal.

The Gunners, for their part, confirmed their runners-up spot with a crucial victory over Newcastle this past weekend. While the destination of the Premier League trophy is settled, the intense battle for a coveted spot in the top four goes down to the wire. Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest are all locked in a tense fight for Champions League qualification on the final day.

This weekend presents a number of mouthwatering fixtures that will have a significant impact on the final standings, including Manchester United welcoming Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest taking on Chelsea, and Fulham hosting Manchester City.

Meanwhile, in local football, the Betway Premiership season is also reaching its climax. Champions Mamelodi Sundowns have already played their final game, securing a 2-0 victory over Magesi this past weekend. However, there’s still plenty of action to look forward to, with crucial matches like SuperSport United taking on Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs facing Polokwane City, among others.

Catch the thrilling conclusion to the football season live on Showmax Premier League.
