The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip - South Africa went straight to the top of the charts on Showmax and X when it launched last Monday. This is Christall’s first return to the world of Housewives since wrapping up The Real Housewives of Johannesburg and she has a few things to get off her chest. In the interview below with Katlego Molubi, she did not hold back on anything.
After your time on The Real Housewives of Johannesburg ended, why did you return to the franchise?
My time on The Real Housewives of Johannesburg ended abruptly and I felt like I never had a platform to show my fans and the viewers that I was strong again and that I could get up again and take on the world. I came back because I wanted people to see that I wasn't defeated by what happened. The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip provided a wonderful platform for me to do that and share my story from my own perspective.
On The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, do you get into the details of what happened in The Real Housewives of Johannesburg?
On the show, I was able to explain things as best as I could but I wouldn't say I explained it 100% because Lejoy kept interrupting me. Every time I would try and tell my story, she would be there.
What has watching yourself on television taught you about yourself?
Watching myself has taught me that I have been real from day one in my journey as a Housewife. You know what? I don't regret anything that I've done or said because it is 100% coming from my heart. If it comes out a little bit offbeat or people don't understand it, it is okay because I understand it, and if you talk to me for five minutes, you will understand where I am coming from. I would rather speak my truth than dance to someone else’s tune.
Going into The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, what state of mind were you in?
I was very excited and I was looking forward to being back again. I was hoping that it was all going to come together with the girls. The first night, I was shocked at how these ladies decided to climb into me but, having said that, it was an awesome experience, way better than I had imagined. I loved the trip; it was really fun and I have to say that being back in battle was awesome. I can take it and I don't cower from anyone. I am not afraid to put any of the ladies in their place.
What was your favourite part about filming The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip?
The best part was being in the van with my lover and kissing him all the way to the boat. You know what? That was the first time I met him in real life and it was the most beautiful kiss I have ever had in my life. We didn’t notice the cameras rolling the entire time. He is 20 years younger than me and everything about that moment was magical. I won’t give away more about the moment; you will just have to watch and see.
Which of your cast members do you think fame has changed the most?
I think fame has changed Nonku the most. I noticed that in the way she expected certain things done for her from the service providers and the butler. I noticed that she would always be calling for people to come to her room to serve her like she was the queen.
Mel and I would go down to the kitchen and engage the staff and have fun and meaningful conversations. We didn’t expect them to serve us.
Did you make any new friends or foes?
I left Jamaica with only two friends, LaConco and Mel. The other ladies were just not on my side.
You and Beverley came to the show as friends. What happened to your friendship?
We did, so I was very disappointed with how she treated me on the show. She wanted to look like a hero but all she looked like was a two-faced person.
