5 reasons viewers love Outlaws on Showmax
South African television is currently experiencing a golden age, with the rise of streaming services paving the way for high-quality content. In under two months since its premiere, Outlaws has managed to carve out a dedicated fan base, making it a must-watch series for many.
Created by Tshedza Pictures' Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon, this show marks South Africa's first contemporary Western series, offering a captivating blend of drama, action, and romance. As we delve into this week's episodes, we'll also highlight five compelling reasons why viewers are falling in love with this epic drama.
What happened in Outlaws episodes 13-14?
The Top Four got the shock of their lives when they received an ominous message from the Bergville farmers. Tlali’s dilemma took an interesting turn when he threatened Moretlo with a gun as Nyakallo proves that she’s got more going on than meets the eye. Leruo made a big mess by shooting Sihle while trying to kill Bandile, not knowing that Bandile is Sihle’s brother.
Now, this week in Outlaws, Sihle’s chances look slim as tension between the Dlaminis and Biyelas creep up to the surface. Meanwhile, Bandile can’t deal with the choices in front of him while Nyakallo gets all that she’s been yearning for.

Here are the reasons viewers love this epic drama:
1. A stellar cast delivering unforgettable performances
The series boasts a talented ensemble cast, with Thembinkosi Mthembu leading with his stellar acting. The series also features top-notch actors like Slindile Nodangala, Mduduzi Nombela and Mmabatho Mogomotsi, while fresh talents like Nirvana Nokwe Mseleku, Lehlohonolo Mayeza, Mnqobi Kunene, Seipati Mahamu, Nosipho Pehlo and Ikobeng Moatlhodi bring a vibrant energy to the show.

2. An epic tale rooted in South African culture
Outlaws weaves a captivating narrative that draws from the rich history of South African cattle raiding. It's a story that's known to many but has never been brought to life on screen with such brilliance. The series skilfully explores the intricate dynamics of the war between the two families: the Zulu, cattle-farming Biyelas and the Basotho, cattle-raiding Ts’eoles.
While the breathtaking landscapes provide a stunning backdrop, it's the gripping storyline that keeps viewers coming back for more. It’s not surprising that the series still holds the number one spot on Showmax since its premiere.
3. Memorable music setting the mood
Let’s talk about music! The show gives special attention to its musical score, with each episode featuring music that perfectly complements the storytelling. Viewers have been buzzing about the show's opening sequence track titled “Ke Lorile” by Kommanda Obbs. Showmax continues to give opportunities to artists who deserve the spotlight, a trend we’ve seen in shows like The Wife and Adulting.

4. The enigmatic Tlali
In case you’ve been living under a rock, South African television has a new villain and his name is Tlali. Tlali's character in Outlaws is one viewers love to hate. Mysterious and enigmatic, Tlali adds a layer of intrigue to the series. He's a greedy and slimy player, relentlessly driven to outdo his cousin Leruo, no matter the consequences.

5. The compelling love story between Leruo and Sihle
The star-crossed love between Leruo and Sihle serves as a powerful emotional anchor in Outlaws, and this week's episode further explores this dynamic as Leruo grapples with the guilt of having shot Sihle.

Episodes 15-16 of Outlaws: A recap
As the Biyelas grapple with the aftermath of Sihle's gunshot wound, Leruo feels guilty for shooting the love of his life. As Leruo pays Sihle a visit at the hospital, his sweet words of love wake her up from the hospital bed after Phumzile allows him to sneak in.
Meanwhile, Bandile is determined to find the men who shot his sister, unaware that Sihle’s secret lover is the mastermind behind the shooting and the rampant stealing of cattle that has turned the whole Underberg region into a war zone.
With each passing week, the series raises more questions and the storm of drama and intrigue is set to intensify in the episodes to come. All the episodes of Outlaws are now streaming on Showmax.
