Prepare to be captivated by a groundbreaking new sports show that's redefining the way we experience football.
Legendary sportscaster and Showmax Premier League Ambassador Robert Marawa is at the helm of a new football show, Rob in the 18 Area, which is set to revolutionise sports entertainment on Showmax Premier League.
Forget the traditional sports show format. This isn't about dry statistics or regurgitated match highlights. Rob in the 18 Area dives deep into the culture, lifestyle, and passion that fuels the beautiful game.
Joined by a crew of dedicated football enthusiasts, Marawa brings a fresh perspective to both the Premier League and the Betway Premiership (PSL). From in-depth match analysis to candid conversations with fans, this show has something for everyone.

The creative agency behind the show, 22Ours, said Rob in the 18 Area goes way beyond just discussing the game.
“It explores the thoughts, experiences, and passions of everyday supporters,” said Andile Mthethwa, director of Rob in the 18 Area. “It’s about what fans truly feel about their teams’ performances, the cultural dynamics, and the swagger their clubs represent.”
Mthethwa said the show represents a modern take on sports culture, engaging in real conversations with everyday sports enthusiasts.
“It’s not just about what happens on the pitch, but the vibe and energy that surround the game, making it a dynamic space for fans to express their love for soccer from a lifestyle perspective.”
The show, which airs weekly on Showmax Premier League with five episodes currently available, has already hosted guests such as former Banyana Banyana footballer Amanda Dlamini, broadcaster, MC and sports enthusiast Lerato Phago and many more.
In the latest episode, Marawa sits down with Lekoko La Space and Amahle-Imvelo Jaxa to discuss the upcoming Manchester United-Chelsea clash (November 3 2024). Expect heated debates, hilarious moments, and unforgettable insights.
Host Marawa said he was thrilled to be a part of a football show with a unique concept. "We want to give football fans a cutting-edge sports show," said Marawa. "We're bringing together different voices, different perspectives, and a whole lot of fun."

According to Marawa, the show promotes the PSL and PL with a unique perspective.
“We believe both the PSL and Premier League should be intertwined and we shouldn’t have our kids growing up understanding one league and not the other. We have frank conversations where we invite all of the debate, the rivalry begins on set and is then taken to the stadium. We also want the show to be interactive and encourage all those watching the show to engage with us,” he said.
Mthethwa said it was an honour to work alongside Marawa.
“Robert Marawa is widely regarded as the most prominent sports anchor and journalist across Africa, with his insights often considered gospel in the world of sports,” said Mthethwa. “We were tasked with the exciting challenge of bringing this legend back to TV, but not in the conventional format of a sports show. This led to the creation of Rob in the 18 Area. As the director and editor of the show, it's been a blast working on set, especially with a talented individual such as Robert."
