DiepCity S1-2
Set in the Johannesburg township of Diepsloot, DiepCity centres on “The Wrong Turns”, a group of disillusioned young women who were forced into crime while in high school, just to make ends meet.
Created and directed by Mandla N, DiepCity was the joint most-awarded show overall at last year’s SAFTAs. At the 2023 SAFTAs, it’s up for three more: Most Popular Telenovela or Soap, Scriptwriting and Art Direction.
The cast is led by Kgaogelo Monama (Lockdown) as Lerato, Nozuko Ncayiyane (Scandal!) as Nox, newcomer Nompumelelo Vilakazi as Sne, and SAFTA nominee Zikhona Bali (Is’Thunzi, Lakutshon’ Ilanga) as Asanda, with Mduduzi Mabaso (Rhythm City, Ehostela) as criminal mastermind Elliot Gedeza.
