Abigail from The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice on the cast
The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice follows nine of KwaZulu-Natal’s most affluent mothers as they balance motherhood, marriage and their careers. Here, Abigail tells us about being a reality star in her own words.
What was your first impression of all the ladies?
I met all the mums at the baby shower. I knew Resh, Losh and Neetasha from before the baby shower. I felt that Kim was a beautiful pregnant lady, very graceful and well-spoken. I liked Asharia’s smile, makeup and her demure composure. Devina was pleasant and tried to fit in but it seemed as if she was a little uncomfortable and didn’t speak much. I felt as though Lenore’s dress code was a bit off for the occasion, but she looked great and oozed elegance and confidence.
Christina was friendly with me but came across as immature when we spoke collectively. Resh and Losh were beautifully dressed and complimented each other well. Neetasha was elegant and smart, composed and attentive.

Is there anything you would like to clarify from watching the show?
Yes, absolutely! I didn’t buy Kim a gift for her baby shower because 1, I didn’t know her well enough to buy her a gift. I like buying gifts once I get to know a person so that I can buy them something they like and will appreciate. I don’t like buying general gifts just for the purpose of gift giving. I find that most impersonal.
I also feel like Neetasha did not understand what I meant about not staying in the “friend zone” with stepchildren. I also chose to marry a man with children out of love and have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with my extended family out of choice. There was no negative connotation intended. I feel as if she will truly understand my sentiments when she has a child of her own. There are different stages to parenting as well as step parenting. I feel as if my sentiments were misunderstood.
Which ladies do you gravitate towards?
I like Resh the most. We have an understanding and a mutual respect. I hope that doesn’t change.
How was your first day filming?
I loved the first day of filming. I enjoyed shooting the office scene as well as the scene with my girls at home. I just didn’t realise how physically and mentally exhausting it could be!
Which of the ladies are different off-camera?
I feel like Christina Is very different off-camera. She is friendly and caring. She loves her daughter and was warm and cordial towards my children and me. I found that she had a somewhat different persona on camera and almost did and said things without much thought of the potential consequences or perhaps there was thought applied despite the potential reactions.
What can viewers expect from the show?
Viewers can expect lots more drama, intimate juicy conversations, more favourite Durban hot spots, each mum's lavish lifestyle and more Indian culture wrapped up in opulence, luxury and Durban Indian flair.
Which of the ladies are sugar and which are spice?
Sugar: Devina, Asharia, Neetasha and Kim. Spice: Resh, Losh, Christina and Lenore.
