Spinners star Katlego Lebogang returns to Showmax in Soft Life
Spinners actress Katlego Lebogang returns to Showmax in the drama series Soft Life, premiering on the African streamer on 2 December 2024.
Katlego plays Zinhle, the most sought-after girl at NubiaBlaq - an elite agency that is a cover for an escort agency ran by Zam (Mampho Brescia)

Zinhle is an unapologetic character who loves the finer things in life. She stands out for her boldness, sexual liberation, and determination to transition from her current life to become a successful businesswoman.
“I never judge my characters,” says Katlego. “What I like about Zinhle is her drive. Despite the unconventional career path, she knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. She’s a woman who has done a lot for herself, despite not coming from privilege.”

On portraying such a sexually emancipated character, Katlego says, “I wasn’t apprehensive. In fact, it made me curious to explore her backstory. For Zinhle, sex isn’t complicated - she keeps it moving.”
Katlego drew inspiration from other strong, sexually liberated female characters, citing Insecure and Harlem as key references. “Both shows depict women on a journey of self-discovery, and that was a great reference point for Zinhle’s character.”
Katlego expressed gratitude for working with female directors Nozipho Nkelemba and Nthabising Mokoena, noting that they provided a safe and supportive environment for the sensitive themes addressed in Soft Life. “Collaborating with Nozipho and Nthabiseng was a highlight,” she says.
As an actress committed to authenticity, Katlego adds, “Our job as actors is to connect with the soul and heart of our characters. Zinhle may be different from me, but there’s always something to relate to. I feel responsible to portray her without holding back.”

Asked how male viewers may react to the show, Katlego laughs. “They might be a bit shook! The show highlights ongoing gender dynamics and societal dialogue. It’s going to spark important conversations.”
Despite the abundance of local content available, Katlego believes Soft Life will stand out. “This is a new story. It’s not a new experience, but it offers a fresh perspective on real-life situations.”
Soft Life premieres with three episodes on 2 December 2024, with a new episode every Monday until 10 February 2025.
