The Mommy Club S1: Happy still dealing with her late husband's betrayal

It’s been just over a year since Happy lost her husband in a car accident. In episode 4 of The Mommy Club, the businesswoman admits that his death was sudden and she wasn’t ready for it. Now she’s looking for a way forward and has decided to start her journey towards healing.

During her therapy session, Happy was asked to share her “burning issue”. She told the psychologist: “His death, betrayal. I don't know whether I'm still in denial stage. I keep on running away from the pain.” So, what would happen if Happy were to feel her pain? She explained: “If the pain hits I just want to take my life, I just want to end everything, that's just me.”

Happy, who’s also a mother, revealed that she’s had thoughts about taking her own life. “I couldn't see my life without him, you know.” Her therapist mentioned that there are experiences that everyone must go through in life so that lessons can be learned.

“These situations that are building our character. You didn't know that today you'd be able to stand on your two feet, to go back to work and support your children and do the things you need to do. To stand, you know. So that your family can carry on his honour.”

The worst part about Happy’s pain is that she’s not only mourning her husband’s death, she’s also trying to come to terms with his cheating scandals. She said she’s been going through hell and that no one knew that. “I didn't just mourn him, the betrayal that came with it, I had so many questions.” What angers her is the fact that he was with another woman in the car on the day he passed away. The woman was his girlfriend. She added that there were no signs of cheating.

“When you're being cheated on you want answers. In my case there's no one to answer me." The therapist then pointed out the fact that Happy put the blame on the other woman, instead of giving the same energy to her late husband.

Happy replied: “In this instance, yes, I blame her... When he passed on, the scandals came out.” She was advised to redirect her anger and deal with her husband’s betrayal.

Happy’s healing journey is still in its early stages and she’s willing to show up every step of the way. Watch new episodes of The Mommy Club every Tuesday on Showmax.
