Dr. Catherine speaks on flying the Kenyan flag and reuniting with Zena on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa
Elegant. Outspoken. Unapologetically fierce.
Business mogul Dr Catherine Masitsa, or Dr C as fans know her, has never shied away from commanding a room.
After captivating viewers on The Real Housewives of Nairobi, the Queen Mother now steps onto a bigger stage as she represents Kenya in The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa (RHUGT: Africa), the latest Showmax reality crossover that gathers some of the continent’s most dynamic housewives for a luxurious adventure in Brazil.
In this exclusive interview, Dr C spills on reuniting with Zena after their explosive RHON Season 2 altercation, navigating therapy, and unleashing a side of herself fans have never seen in Ultimate Girls Trip.

“A dream come true” — On getting the call for RHUGT: Africa
“Stepping out of Nairobi for the Ultimate Girls Trip was electrifying,” she recalls. “A luxurious, all-expenses-paid trip to such a vibrant destination is any woman’s dream.”
Representing Kenya among powerhouse African women felt “monumental”.
Still, she admits she was cautious about the drama she might encounter.
“My mantra was: stay true to myself, be polite but firm, and look for genuine connections among the chaos.”
Reuniting with Zena
RHUGT: Africa marks the first time Dr C and Zena come face-to-face since their fiery clash in The Real Housewives of Nairobi Season 2.
“I was completely unprepared. When I saw her, I nearly passed out,” Dr C says.
The moment triggered intense emotions, but she chose peace.
She leaned in and whispered: “Tutaenda nyumbani Kenya tukapigane huko tafadhali, sio hapa."
Are things resolved?
According to Dr C, they’re finally in a place where they can talk without shouting.
“Zena now understands that the issues were never about her personality but about stopping the glamorisation of harmful behaviour — body-shaming, and calling women witches.”
While they’ve reached a respectful middle ground, Dr C is clear: “My fight against normalising such harmful behaviour continues, fiercely and unapologetically.”
On going to therapy after RHON Season 2
Following the "constant barrage of negativity" and emotional toll of RHON Season 2, Dr C chose to go for therapy. The goal was introspection, emotional growth, and developing ways to protect her energy and maintain inner peace.
"For me, therapy was all about introspection... identifying personal triggers, learning to manage reactions with calm..."
This process helped her prepare for the volatile environment of the Ultimate Girls Trip.
Friendships formed in Rio
Dr C built strong bonds during the trip, especially with Madam Evoria from The Real Housewives of Johannesburg.
“Our relationship is special. We talk often – about children, business, and life. We disagree with maturity, which I value deeply.”
She also connected with Mariam from The Real Housewives of Lagos.
“Mariam is incredibly balanced and calm. We may not talk daily, but our mutual support is solid.”
If you had to describe this season using an emoji, what would it be?
💥 The explosion emoji!
Would she do it again?
“Absolutely! My bags are already packed,” she says.
Dr C believes the producers know exactly how to create unforgettable television: “When you bring together African powerhouse women, you get fire. They will need me back, and I am ready.”
What can Kenyans expect from the show?
"I would describe the experience as Malindi on Steroids. I promise that neither I nor the other phenomenal ladies from South Africa and Nigeria will disappoint.
"On RHON, viewers mostly saw the business mogul side of me. The formidable force who commands the table, often focusing on family values, business strategy, and high society.
"In this edition, you will get to meet the ratchet, unadulterated Dr C. This trip brought out a spontaneous, carefree, and intensely fun-loving side of me that the cameras in Nairobi rarely captured.
"You will see the kind of energy that comes with true freedom; dancing on tables and fully embracing the celebratory, carnival spirit of Brazil.
"Forget the prim and proper wine tastings. We were on a whole different level of fun. That moment of pole dancing in a party bus is a testament to dropping all inhibitions and living in the moment, surrounded by African sisterhood."
