Lawmen: Bass Reeves S1
Emmy nominee David Oyelowo (Selma, Silo) is up for Best Actor at both the Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards as Bass Reeves, a slave who became the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi, arresting over 3 000 outlaws during the course of his career.
Created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone), Lawmen: Bass Reeves has an 81% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In their 4-star review, The Guardian says, “this utterly distinctive western is a rare treat… a tense, thoughtful interrogation of what liberty means.”
The Paramount series’ stellar supporting cast includes the likes of Black Reel Award nominee Demi Singleton (Serena Williams in King Richard), Emmy winner Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games), Teen Choice nominee Garrett Hedlund (Tulsa King) and Critics Choice nominee Shea Whigham (Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning).
