The Brutalist on Showmax

The Brutalist (2024)

The Brutalist follows László Toth, a Hungarian Jewish architect. After surviving the Holocaust, László emigrates to the United States to start a new life, while awaiting the arrival of his wife and niece, both of whom remain trapped in Eastern Europe following the war. The promise of the American Dream proves to be illusory as his stature and reputation as a successful architect back in Budapest do not easily translate to his new blue blood Pennsylvania surroundings.

The Brutalist won three Oscars, including Best Actor for Adrien Brody; three Golden Globes, including Best Picture and Best Director for Brady Corbet; and over 120 other awards. Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce were both Oscar nominated for their supporting roles.

The Brutalist was hailed as “exhilarating” by Time, “electrifying” by Vogue, “an instant classic” by Rolling Stone; and “a towering tribute to the immigrant experience” by Rotten Tomatoes.
