The Mommy Club Sugar & Spice: Devina's tough journey
In episode 10 of The Mommy Club: Sugar & Spice, Resh got the ladies together for a cute campaign shoot. The mothers were excited about being part of her project and before the shoot started, the mommies played a game. While games on reality shows can get controversial very quickly, this one was quite different. The cast members got emotional as they opened up about their struggles with motherhood and how they’ve dealt with those challenges.
Born prematurely

“I’ve had a very difficult antenatal history, I mentioned that before,” Devina shared. She mentioned that her daughter was her eighth baby. “I was blessed, she was my eight baby after seven, and after having gone through pregnancies, full pregnancies. I gave birth to my babies; I lost them and then I was blessed with her after many years. And she was born prematurely.”
She explained when her baby was born, she wasn’t strong enough to breastfeed, although she could feed okay. The hospital chose the milk for her baby, and she continued to feed her because it was making her stronger. “I always had difficulty burping her,” she said, adding that one evening while she was feeding her baby she noticed that she couldn’t burp her.
Tears and relief

“Neither was she crying or making any kind of sound. And every time I looked at her, she was fine she was breathing and everything. At the end of everything, when I put her down to see what was going on, she wasn’t breathing,” Devina told the ladies.
They rushed her to the hospital and found out that the milk they had been feeding her baby had built up. “And she had gone blue at this point.” All she could think about was the fact that she didn’t want to lose another baby. “We brought her so far, let her make it,” she pleaded with God. Her baby finally made a crying sound, which gave her a sense of relief. They were able to overcome the situation.
The other ladies also shared their tough stories about motherhood and they all got to reflect on their strengths.
