Kgosi still doesn’t understand why his daughter chooses Qhawe over her own family. Molefi, who is the chief’s advisor, reminds him of what the seer once told him. He reminds the chief that the seer made it clear that when he forces Naledi into doing things she doesn’t want, nothing good comes out of it. Let’s get into recapping this week’s episodes:
Naledi wants to be with Qhawe
One thing we’ve learnt so far this season is that as much as Qhawe and Naledi go through so many challenges together, the best thing is that they always choose each other. Qhawe constantly shouts Naledi’s name even in his unconscious state. Having recovered first since he only had minor injuries, Qhawe made sure that he was not leaving the hospital without seeing Naledi, his love, who is in a critical state. When she finally wakes up, all she does is exclaim Qhawe’s name, right in front of her father.
Naledi has been very respectful to her father when it comes to Qhawe. She loves Qhawe but also respects her father, who doesn’t approve of their union. When she wakes up in the hospital bed, she makes it clear to her father that Qhawe will take good care of her. The episode ends with Kgosi and Qhawe at odds about who will care for her.
Tsietsi, Naledi’s colleague, is also the doctor on duty who helped revive both Qhawe and Naledi after the accident. He has a crush on Naledi and offers for her to move into his place and promises to take care of her. But in the end, the Tswana princess goes home with Qhawe.
Kgosi finds his diamonds at Qhawe’s place
Seeing that Naledi chooses to be with Qhawe, Kgosi decides to move in with the couple and also bring along a team of nurses to take extra care of Naledi as she is recovering at home.
After continued insults towards Qhawe, Kgosi finally warms up to the Zulu brother and even shares a drink of whiskey with him. Naledi is pleased to see her two favourite men getting along.
Just as Kgosi was warming up to Qhawe, he makes a shocking discovery when he finds some diamonds Qhawe had hidden in his fish tank. The chief puts two and two together and returns to Rustenburg to interrogate his miners, who confess that they were robbed by the Zulus. The chief is convinced that the Zulu brothers are the ones who took his diamonds.
Trouble in paradise for Hlomu
Detective Baloyi seems to be on a mission of his own, and this time it involves a married woman, Hlomu. We’ve seen Baloyi going after the Zulu family but now he seems to be applying a different strategy to his mission to catch the bad guys. He flirts with Hlomu and opens up about how he lost his family. The two bond over wine while having a lengthy conversation that seems to be making Hlomu excited.
Mqhele sees them looking happy in each other’s company and when he calls Hlomu, she ignores his call. Angry and in disbelief, he leaves without causing a scene.
But history serves us well enough to know what’s going to happen to Hlomu and Detective Baloyi. Is the justice-seeking good cop digging his own grave or is this just his way of trying to get closer to exposing the Zulus’ shenanigans?
Watch the Trailer of The Wife Season 3 episodes 25-27
This week’s trailer of The Wife Season 3 shows that we’re being served the explosive season we ordered. Qhawe and Naledi’s lives hang in the balance while Tshedi and her husband continue to punch the wall. However, Tshedi doesn’t go down without a fight and is willing to do anything, including trying to kill her own sister, to get what she wants. While Kgosi still believes that Qhawe must meet his maker, he also discovers something that makes his hate towards the Zulus even more aggravating.
Just when Hlomu’s business is going well, she gets led into a dark hole that could cause trouble in her marriage. Spending time away from her family only makes sense when the reason is managing the restaurant and making strides for it to be better.
But entertaining a patron over a glass of wine and flirting with them is a sure way to irritate the abusive Mqhele. He has shown in the past that when a man comes in between him and his wife, either Hlomu gets beaten to a pulp or the person meets his maker. We can only hope that Mqhele doesn’t lay his hands on Hlomu this time around.
