The Wife Season 3 episodes 40-42 recap: Xoli has Mqhele right where she wants him
It's one step forward and two steps back when it comes to Naledi and Sefako’s union on The Wife Season 3. When you think things are going well for the couple, something new rocks their boat. Will their marriage eventually see the light of day?
This week on The Wife Season 3 episodes 40-42, we begin at the Royal Thabeng, in the midst of the chaos caused by Tshedi. Sefako’s family is still infuriated after finding out about Naledi’s sex tape. Meanwhile, Qhawe returns to Royal Thabeng and things don’t go as planned. Back at the Zulu mansion, Xoli and her mother won’t rest until they have the Zulus right where they want them. Will their plan succeed? Let’s have a look at this week’s episodes.
Naledi fights for her marriage
Sefako’s family tells him to cancel his plans to marry Naledi after seeing her sex tape with Qhawe. Though he finds it hard to believe, he tells Naledi that he is a virgin and has been saving himself for her. Naledi admits she should have come clean about the sex tape and assures Sefako that she is determined to fight for their marriage. Sefako forgives her and informs his parents to continue with the lobola negotiations as he is in love with Naledi despite the sex tape shenanigans.

For the first time, Tshedi admits she’s the one who filmed and leaked Naledi’s sex tape and the sisters have an argument about it. The chief then decides that it’s best that Tshedi is sent to a mental institution since she has been acting very strangely lately.
Qhawe gets himself right in Kgosi’s clutches again
Qhawe finds the footage of the chief’s involvement in the collapse of the zama-zama mines and decides to go to Royal Thabeng to show Naledi her father’s dirty business dealings. The footage also proves that Qhawe killed Sello in self-defence. Qhawe arrives in Royal Thabeng with Mqoqi during the wedding proceedings and causes a scene. Unfortunately for the Zulu brothers, the chief’s people lock them in the dungeon and beat them up.

Naledi arrives just in time to rescue Qhawe from being killed by her father, but she confesses her love for Sefako and tells Qhawe to forget about her. Episode 41 ends with Naledi and Sefako finally getting to make love for the first time.

Back at work, Naledi can’t stop talking about Qhawe and her colleague, Tsietsi, notices her obsession with the Zulu brother even after she is married to Sefako. Naledi tells Tsietsi that Qhawe bought her a necklace and the fact that the Zulu brother doesn’t pick up the phone worries her. Will the Tswana princess find herself going back to Qhawe's arms?
Xoli has Mqhele right where she wants him
Back at the Zulu mansion, Xoli and MaKhumalo are determined to strike while the iron is hot. They are left in the house with just Hlomu and Mthaniya. They decide this is a perfect time to strike. Their plan is to spike Hlomu so that by the time Mqhele comes back he can have time with Xoli while Hlomu is too out of it to even notice. Though she resisted at first, later in the day Hlomu comes back and asks MaKhumalo to pour her a glass of wine, and soon passes out.

When Mqhele returns home to notice his wife has gone back to drinking, Xoli is there to seduce him. Will Mqhele succumb? What if the two sleep together and Xoli gets pregnant? Will Sambulo find out? There’s still a lot of drama to unfold and only time will tell which fate awaits each character this season.
