016FM Season 1 episode 5 recap: The real deal
The Kwaal battle heats up on 016FM as Tsietsi's makeover backfires and Whiskey scrambles to stay on top. Keith's live read goes horribly wrong and Karabo’s frustration reaches a boiling point. Here’s the recap.
Tsietsi the fraud

Tsietsi’s new look impresses some but alienates his loyal fans. When younger fans realise his antics at the club were just a ploy for votes, they call him a fraud, leaving him back at square one. Latoya and Karabo urge him to be himself—changing his style to win over the youth won’t work if he doesn’t feel comfortable. He needs to find a balance between appealing to younger listeners while staying true to his core fans.
Whiskey's worries and failed talent search

Tsietsi's trending, and Whiskey's worried. He fears that if Tsietsi wins, he will bring too many rules and stifle the station's vibe. His auditions for new talent are a letdown too. He’s searching for authenticity, but every candidate tries to mimic him or Latoya. He’s desperate to find someone original who can bring fresh energy to his team. But there's a glimmer of hope when DJ Masedi announces he's joining Team Whiskey for the Kwaal!
Karabo’s frustrations and Keith’s blunder

Karabo's frustration grows as Tsietsi continues to overlook her, asking Queen for a makeover and recruiting other DJs for his Kwaal team. Meanwhile, Queen gives Keith a coded message to read during a live broadcast. Keith decides to tweak it, unaware he's changing the code. This blunder puts his beloved pet, Gucci, in danger!
Mama Jane’s wisdom

Seeking guidance, Tsietsi visits his mother. Mama Jane reminds him that his strength lies in connecting with the community. She advises him to focus on making 016FM a true community station again, rather than trying to imitate Whiskey’s flashy style.
Tsietsi’s good deed

Taking his mother’s advice to heart, Tsietsi calls on his listeners to share their stories during his set and a graduate looking for a job connects with an employer live on air! But just as Tsietsi feels a sense of fulfilment and purpose, he notices several missed calls from Mama Jane.
Panic sets in, and he rushes out of the studio, leaving us on the edge of our seats. What’s happened to Mama Jane? Find out next week on 016FM. New episodes land every Wednesday, only on Showmax.
