Umkhokha: The Curse S1-2
Umkhokha: The Curse centres on the battle between the Mthembu and Gumede/Mzobe families for leadership of the Ithempile Lenkosi – one of the biggest churches in KwaZulu-Natal.
Following the success of the award-winning 2021 drama series Umkhokha, Rhythm World Productions (Sibongile & The Dlaminis, My Brother’s Keeper) reinvented the story as a prequel telenovela, going back to the roots of the mega-church and how greed and lust for power led to the rivalry that’s come to define these two powerful families.
As MaMzobe, Deli Malinga won the Outstanding Performance award at the National Film and Television Awards, as well as Best Actress at the Simon Mabhunu Sabela Awards.
The second and final season was DStv’s second most-streamed show of 2024.
